The 2010 Kenny Lipp's Annual Cops, Kids 'n Firefighters Golf Outing
The first event of the calendar year was the Kenny Lipps Annual Cops, Kids 'n Firefighters Golf Outing sponsored by the Delhi Skirt Game. This event was started in 2001 and ironically it was started by one of the original founders of the Skirt Game, Mr. Ken Lipps. Ken was a full time member of the Delhi Fire Department until his retirement in the mid-90’s. Ken wanted to find a way for the organization to raise some additional money outside of the Skirt Game itself and he loved to golf, so why not?
The golf out is the first Saturday in May (Derby Day) and is held at the Hillview Golf Course on Wesselman Road. Here is a link to the Hillview web site for directions: http://www.hillviewgolfcourse.com/location.asp
The golf outing is a fun event and is affordable as golf outings go. The event starts with hotdogs and snacks before tee-off and at the turn. The event ends with a steak dinner at the golf course shelter. The entry fee per golfer is $75 and also includes a 4 hole in one contests. There will be different prizes at three of the par-3 holes and on the 18th hole, the prize is $1000 that goes to the hole in one winner and the Skirt Game also receives $1000. This hole is sponsored by Huntington Bank.
This is the first year that the money raised from this event will go exclusively for what was called the Delhi Kids 'n Cops program. This program was started in 2009 and the innaugeral event helped 23 families with 84 kids. This event was held at Target. Food baskets were also provided to the families and they were obtained from one of our major sponsors, Delhi Biggs. This event is now going to be called Delhi Kids, Cops and Firefighters and is being heavily supported by the Delhi Police and Firefighters. The Delhi Skirt Game Committee would like to thank all of the golfers who showed up for this very worthwhile event. We dodged the rain and was able to get all 18 holes in.
