WOW!
It is now 2013. It is time to begin to plan for the 36th Annual Delhi Skirt Game and all of the activities that surround that great event. Our meetings are held the 4th Thursday of the month at the Neeb Road Firehouse at 7:30. If you are interested in becoming involved in the Skirt Game, please feel free to attend these meetings.
Here are the events that we are planning for at this time:
The Kenny Lipps Memorial Golf Outing
This event is held on the first Saturday of May at Hillview Golf Course. The date this year is Saturday May 4th. There will be a Shot Gun start at 1:00 p.m. We will play an 18 hole scramble. There will be hotdogs prior to t-off and at the turn and beverage tickets are included as part of the entry fee. There is a steak fry following the outing. The entry fee is only $75 if you register and pay no later than April 15th. Entry after April 15th will be $85. To register print off an entry form and send your check and the completed form to the address on the form. The entry form can be downloaded by following this LINK.
All proceeds go into the Cindy Roebel Memorial fund which is used to cover the expenses for Kids, Cops 'n Firefighters.
Tailgate Party
The 3rd Annual Tailgate Party will be held on Thursday August 1st, at Remke Biggs on Delhi Pike. The event is in the early planning stages, but there will be plenty of entertainment, including the Delhi Rising Star Finals and plenty of food and beverages, along with a bevy of beauties who make up the Delhi Skirt Game Softball players. This is a great event and kicks off what has become the end of summer celebration which is the Delhi Skirt Game.
The Tailgate Party will begin at 6:00 and will go until 11:00.
Delhi Rising Star Contest
The Skirt Game Committee and The Delhi Civic Association will again be co-sponsoring round two of the Delhi Rising Star contest. Details will be provided here and on the Civic Association Web site as they become available. The finals of the Rising Star Contest will be at the Tailgate Party, the night before the Skirt Game.
The Delhi Skirt Game
The Delhi Skirt Game will be held on Friday August 2 beginning at 5:00 p.m. As we have done for 35 years, it will be held at the Delhi Township Park on and around Field 1. Besides the game, there will be lots of food, drink and entertainment for young and old alike. At the end of the evening will be fireworks provided by David Klawitter's Queen City Pyro Production. Make sure you mark your calendar for this event and join the rest of Delhi in this end of summer celebration.
There is limted parking in Delhi Township Park, so buses will be provided from Shiloh UMC (Anderson Ferry and Foley) and from Delhi Plaza (next to KFC). Bus transportation is free.
Thank Yous
We want to put out a special thanks to Bob Herzog for being the master of ceremonies for the Tailgate Party and the Skirt Game and to John Gumm who helped MC the Skirt Game. We are keeping out fingers crossed that they will both return to entertain us again.
We also want to say a BIGG thanks to Remke Biggs for allowing us to use their parking lot, for cooking the great food that was provided at the tailgate party and for just being a great sponsor of the Skirt Game. Without sponsors like Remke Biggs, Coldwell Banker, Eagle Savings, Walt Sweeney Ford, Duebber Automotive and Carry out and so many others, the Delhi Skirt Game would not enjoy the success that it has.
Sponsors
I need to thank some sponsors here also. Besides Remke Biggs, Coldwell Banker, Eagle Savings, Duebber's Automotive and Carry-out, and Walt Sweeney Ford, we need to thank Delhi LaRosa's who is also a huge sponsor and supporter of this event. Please support these sponsors and let them know that you know they are a supporter of the Skirt Game.
There are many more sponsors of the Delhi Skirt Game. You can see the entire list of Major Sponsors, Field Sponsors and Inning and Half Inning sponsors on our Sponsor Page. Just click the sponsor page tab above and you can go there and link to their businesses. We hope you will support all of our sponsors.
Also, new this year, we had Kettle Corn. This booth was provided and manned by Jesse Day who has his Kettle Corn at a lot of local functions. We want to thank him for helping us out this year.
Pictures
Pictures from last year's game are available on this site. Click "Skirt Game 2012 Pictures" tab above to see pictures that were taken by Bill Renken.
We want to continue to thank Local 12 for their support of the Delhi Skirt Game.
